Sharing one or more pictures via an instant messenger can take too long and the transfer can be interrupted at any time. A faster way is to upload the files on a specialized hosting site and send the provided links to your friends. One of these services is Postimage. It comes with a desktop application, which makes it much easier to share pictures. The application also allows you to take snapshots of the screen and make a few basic adjustments on your screenshots.

Postimage is free, but it can be upgraded to a premium version, by paying a monthly or yearly subscription. Installing the application takes only a few seconds. It is compatible with all popular Windows versions and it does not ask for too many resources or additional drivers or services.

While the application is running, you may click its system tray icon or hit the PrintScreen key to take a snapshot. It allows you to capture the entire screen or part of it, by drawing a rectangle, which can be resized and moved. If you right click the system tray icon, you will find options for capturing a window or the entire screen.

Once you draw a rectangle, to capture the screen, a series of options will be displayed, which can be used to upload the screenshot on Reddit, Facebook or Twitter, send a link by email or search for similar images on Google. Other options allow you to load the screenshot in the application's editor, save, print or copy the image to the clipboard or upload it to Postimage.com.

It is also possible to upload images from local folders. The uploading progress is displayed on a small window. When the application is done uploading your images, you can decide to copy a direct link, hotlinks or thumbnails for websites and forums.

Pros

You can take screenshots and upload them to a website with a few simple clicks. Additionally, the application allows you to upload the snapshots to Facebook and Twitter or search for similar images on Google. It comes with a built-in editor, which can be used to watermark images and make other basic adjustments.

Cons

You can upload images of up to 5 MB with the free version. With its straightforward functionality, Postimage makes it much easier and faster to share images and screenshots.
